Yogataveller, Koh Ngai, Thailand - 16th August 2008 - By: Aubrey Lampkin

With Grace Lee, Ruth Duncan, Johanna McMinn, Neil Harvey, Francesca Ciccarelli and Wendy Hudson.

Mr. Spider wasn’t the only insect to rear its creepy head at us in Koh Phangang - apparently, in our open-air jungle tree-house of a ‘hotel-room’ I was bitten by a mosquito infected with Dengue Fever. If you’ve never heard of Dengue Fever, it’s probably for the best - though it’s good to be aware it exists. But don’t fear, blog readers; Generally speaking, Dengue is only contracted in jungle areas - and by people who’ve taken semi-permanent residence in the country in which they were infected, having more exposure time to it (like me). The fact is there are always risks wherever you travel – and even in your hometown. It’s better to take the adventure!

That said, this blog entry will be truncated by the fact I very sadly had to leave my first-ever Koh Ngai yoga group prematurely and high-tail it to a hospital to get some blood work done and attempt to regain strength. Thankfully, I was substituted by the lovely Vincenzo who I’m quite certain my students didn’t mind being passed along to… Young, smart, good-looking, great yoga teacher and of the male gender - score! I wish I had the opportunity to spend more time with you, 8/16 group.
